Kindness. A beautiful characteristic to have. Can you think of a time that someone went out of there way, it seems, to extend a helping hand to you? Do you feel that you deserved their help? Every day, God gives us an opportunity to do the same for others. However, we often think of several reasons to not help someone. Maybe we feel like we do not have enough money; we do not have the resources they need; or we do not have the time. How would we feel if God gave us those same excuses?
We can find a way to help someone regardless of what we have to offer. If we are building or have built a relationship with God, you can help someone by merely asking God what to do. You could pray that someone comes along and give what you cannot. You can point them in the direction of somewhere or someone who has the resources. You can also be prepared to be kind every day, carry a few dollars to give to someone who is less fortunate or left their wallet (like I just did this morning, we’ve all done it). You can also look into making what I like to call giving packs, for our Christmas party this year we composed a bag of Capri Suns, crackers, socks, and gloves (this inspiration came from a post about a child doing the same). Attendees of the party state they were able to spread love and joy when they gave them out. The recipient does not only find those benefits but those who gave reap as well. Proverbs 19:17 ESV states “Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.” Being poor is not only defined by those with low socioeconomic status, but it can be those who are just lacking, at the moment, regardless of their finances. One can lack knowledge, help, or faith. I encourage you to extend kindness today and see God’s return.
Today’s Prayer
God thank you for waking me up this morning and giving me another day to live out your plans and purpose for my life. Lord, today I ask that you display your agenda for me today, and I plan to follow you. Lord, speak to me on how I can extend kindness to someone today. Lord, I also pray that you grant me the resources I need to be able to follow through on your plans. Lord, I want to be open and focus on your word today so you can guide me through whatever obstacles I may face. I love you so much.
Amen
Peace, Love, Joy, and Abundant Blessings
