Patience. Lord, I need it! How many of us have said that? So many things can test our patience. The red light that stops you when all the others are green, and you are slightly late for work; your toddler running around and not obeying you; or longing for the answer to a prayer that you have prayed for years. Romans 5:3-4 MSG states” There’s more to come: We continue to shout our praise even when we’re hemmed in with troubles, because we know how troubles can develop passionate patience in us, and how that patience, in turn, forges the tempered steel of virtue, keeping us alert for whatever God will do next.” Sounds good, huh? Shout praise, develop patience, and then receive what God has for you. However, when you are in the middle of trouble, patience is often not at the forefront of our minds. What can we do about it?

Stay constant in prayer and the word. The Bible has several stories of those who went before us that had their patience tested, and even Jesus was tested. However, through patience, you reap the best harvest. If you pluck it too early, it may not be as profitable as it was intended and not as tasty as you expected. No, it is not easy; however, it is was more fruitful than living your way. Impatience leads to short victories and longer battles, empty storehouses, and fights with quicksand that has already half consumed you. Patience produces permanent victories, no one can take it away, storehouses running over, and the elimination of obstacles that were meant to take you out. I encourage you to practice patience and see the extended benefits of it.

Today’s Prayer
Good morning Dad, thanks for giving me another opportunity to live your agenda. Today I chose your plans, and not mine. Lord, I know that when I obey you, I am in line with the blessings you have in store for me. Lord, it is honestly not easy, but I chose to be patient and wait on what you have for me. I chose patience because those blessings are permanent, the ones the world can give will fade away. I pray today that I am open to the Holy Spirit’s guidance that can prevent me from being impatient. It can stop me from stepping out of your will. Lord, I want what you have for me more than how quickly I can get fulfillment. Just as soon as the achievement comes, it will leave at the same speed. I want your eternal blessings, grace, and mercy. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for having patience with me.

Peace, Love, Joy, and Abundant Blessings,

  1. Thank you Shameka! I really needed this reminder of Patience. The hardest thing I’ve noticed I’ve had to do in my 28 years of life was…wait! But when you change and grow you realize it is not only necessary…it is a requirement to accomplish what God truly wants for your life and what He has in store for us all. Cheers to waiting for a completed Harvest!
