Fresh Water.Freedom. Galatians 5:1. Part 1

Freedom Fresh Water

It is for FREEDOM that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”

This verse speaks volumes on our relationship with Christ, and how He values our freedom. When Christ died on the cross for our sins, He did just that… he died for our sins. They no longer bind us! He rose with all freedom in his hands. For this Fresh Water post, I am going to break this verse down into three parts, and further nourish this verse. We will start this week with one part.

  1. “It is for FREEDOM that Christ has set us free” or MSG version “Christ has set us free to live a free life”
    1. God wants us to be free. He never intended for us to live a life of bondage (sin, hurt, anger, fear, worry, depression, and etc.). When He sent His only begotten son to die for us (John 3:16), He did it so we would no longer be bound by sin, He did it because he loves us, and He does not want to see the ones He loves in bondage
    2.  Since God does not want us to be in bondage, the question comes to “well how did I get in bondage?” Well to be honest majority of what we are going through is self-inflicted. It is caused by choices that we make and we know that it is not the best decision, but we did it anyway or we do not consult God on what decisions we are making in our life. “So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” (Galatians 5:16)
    3. We are prisoners of our own minds or this world. We are living confined behind the ways of the world instead of the ways of the Spirit, and it can be life limiting. God never intended for us to be trapped behind some of the bars that we have put ourselves behind. Some of the situations we are in we literally walked into the open jail cell, and closed the door behind us. However, there are chains that stem from the actions of others, and that’s where we have to hand those burdens over to Christ and let him do the work. Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. (Ps 55:22)

The point of these posts is to guide you into your own moment with Christ. Take these points and see how they apply in your life. Can’t see a connection? Put it at the feet of Jesus, and ask Him to show you. We all deal with Freedom issues, and it is a daily CHOICE to stay FREE. I love you all, and I pray that you have a wonderful and beautiful weekend.
