Making the Choice

“The Lord will always lead you, satisfy you in a parched land and strengthen your bones. You will be like a watered garden and like a spring whose water never run dry.” – Isaiah 58:11
Isaiah 58:11 really sums up God’s provision; however, there are some things we have to do to stay in line with his provision. See God never changes, but our actions and CHOICES sometimes takes us off the path that He has set us on and intends us to be on. If you re-read the passage the following way you will see that. The Lord will always lead you if you CHOOSE  to stop and listen. He will satisfy you in a parched land and strengthen your bones if you SEEK Him first and ask for his directions. You will be like a watered garden and like a spring whose water never run dry, if you CHOOSE every day to renew and refresh yourself in God’s word, in His living water, His Fresh Water.
Fresh Water posts are meant to elaborate on the seed of the week, a Bible verse that is intended to be planted in your heart to blossom fruit of the Spirit. This week, I want you to think about how your CHOICES put you in connection with God and can get you out of connection with God. The entire passage of Isaiah 58 talks about “True Fasting”. Fasting is the act of removing those things that distract you from truly hearing what God is trying to tell you, basically removing all the daily junk that messes with your clarity, your vision. See sometimes the distractions and situations we have going on in our lives, remove us from the path that God intends for us to be on. However, when we remove ourselves from those things that are fogging our vision, we can see where the path is located. In Isaiah 58:2 it says “ They seek ME day after day and delight to know MY ways, like a nation that does what is right and does not abandon the justice of their God. They ask ME for righteous judgments; they delight in the nearness of God.” This verse sums up what God wants us to do. He wants us to fully CHOOSE to move all the junk out the way, fast, and SEEK HIM for everything and in that, He can completely take care of our needs and fulfill the promises He has given us. He can put us back on the path of righteousness, back on the path of reward, and back on the path of success.
Now this journey will not be easy, it can take some time to clear everything out and for the dust to settle after moving things out of the way. However, the most important part is SEEKING GOD through it all and letting him lead your cleaning process. Through reading this passage, I bet some of you immediately thought of some areas in your life that constantly cause you to fall short or put confusion in your life. I know I did.  For those who didn’t feel that I have some questions to help guide you to figuring out what you need to fast or remove from your life, whether it be for a period of time or for a lifetime.
So this week, I encourage you to answer these questions:
  1. What is distracting me from spending time with God? Is a thing? Are they thoughts?
  2. How can I remove these things from distracting me?
  3. What are some promises God has given me? (Hint: Romans 8:28, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Psalms 34:17, Psalm 139:14)
  4. What is God telling me?
I pray that this passage can lead you to a deeper relationship with God. I pray that you are made stronger and wiser through your time with God and that He will give you your own unique promises during your alone time. Overall, it is my prayer that through this message you are able to see that God loves you, right where you are in the midst of all of your junk and he just wants to you drop all that baggage and run to Him. He wants you to sweep off your front doorstep so you can see where the sidewalk is that leads you to His promises.  He can provide ultimate protection, wisdom, and supply all of your needs unlike any other person on this Earth.
Have a Blessed Day,
Love Shameka
